Our client is a leading European hospitality investment and management platform, who now have a fantastic opportunity for a strong leader to be General Manager of a newly converted internationally branded property in the highly desirable St Germain area of Paris.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for a passionate General Manager who has the skill set and experience to drive the business forward and effectively lead an energetic and standards-driven team, with the objective to create a lifestyle hotel recognised in the city as the ‘place to be seen’. The successful candidate will have strong business and commercial acumen with a genuine passion for exemplary service.  This individual will thrive working autonomously but in a collaborative way with the senior leadership team.

Experience required:

  • Pre -opening experience either as a GM or Head of department
  • An experienced General Manager (or Hotel Manager) with lifestyle and on trend hotels
  • A GM with both rooms and F&B experience
  • Proven record of recruiting hiring and retaining talent (to a team of 30-45 employees)
  • P&L responsibility
  • Current or earlier experience working in France
  • Fluent in English and French
  • Proven record setting and reviewing KPI’s, budgets and forecasts and ability to challenge performance
  • Strong leader able to deliver agreed strategy and improvements across the business
  • Initiative-taker, capable of handling multi-faceted projects whilst working under pressure
  • Experience with Capex projects

 

VP Development, London – Position Filled

Our client is a leading European hospitality investment and management company who are seeking a VP Development.

The VP Development will be a key member of the Investment and Asset Management team and will oversee leading all management development activities. The VP Development will be responsible for sourcing management agreement projects for the European markets. This role will lead the full spectrum of the projects including origination, feasibility studies, term sheet negotiation, management approvals, contract negotiations and deal closing.

In addition they will be responsible for:

  • Conducting market, financial and project feasibility studies
  • Developing new markets, market intelligence, and maintain a database of research resources
  • Developing financial feasibility studies for management agreements
  • Preparing and submitting proposals for internal approvals as well as preparing and presenting strong proposition offers for external property owners
  • Negotiating management agreements and all related contracts
  • Activelyt selling the company’s management service products to potential new affiliates with the aim of increasing the size and scope of the management contract offering
  • Maintaining a strong awareness of competitor activity and apply this to the growth strategy
  • Developing and completing Hotel management deals, both single unit and multiple signings
  • Creating relationships between funding sources, hotel operators and property owners to maximise sales potential
  • Building alliances and relationships with agents, brokers, and financial institutions to facilitate potential deal making
  • Developing strong relationships internally throughout all departments and support colleagues where required
  • Ensuring that the development process is well documented and implemented according to procedure and company standards
  • To adopt a collegial relationship throughout the Group but within the operational business division to ensure a smooth opening process and a seamless transition

Experience required:

  • Proven Business Development experience and network within the European hospitality/Hotel market
  • Competent in managing multiple projects simultaneously with a strong results/goal orientation
  • Ability to thrive in a changing environment and deal with ambiguity
  • Good collaborator with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Demonstrated skill in organising resources and establishing priorities
  • Systematic and methodical in thought process and work approach
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills
  • Travel is required up to 50%
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, real estate and/or equivalent areas preferred

The position of General Manager  is a senior leadership role and offers a great opportunity to continue the success of the hotel in the city. The hotel currently sits as the number one in STR and its competitive set. This individual will be directly responsible for the entire operation which has a large and complex F&B function. The property also has a wellness centre with over 400 members. The production kitchen is at the heart of the hotel and produces all the highest quality food to the highly competitive food outlets.

Candidate Requirements

  • Seasoned and experienced GM with the maturity to manage the complexity of the dynamic product offering
  • An F&B professional who has managed multiple outlets and can react quickly to the “pulse” of the city
  • Exceptional networking skills to be seen as a true leader in the city and build genuine relationships on a regular basis
  • Fluent in German
