Our client is one of the largest privately-held hospitality organizations in the world and throughout the years has had an ownership interest in and operated over 1000 hotels. Currently this stands at over 500 hotels across four continents.

They are now seeking to hire a General Manager to oversee the rebranding and relaunch of one of their properties situated on the outskirts of Nairobi. The hotel is the biggest, mixed-use development and mall in East and Central Africa featuring retail, entertainment, banking, office and residential elements. The Hotel forms part of this modern entertainment destination and is close to the UN and USA embassy and well situated in the diplomatic enclave of Nairobi.

Key objectives of the role

  • Taking a leadership role driving success at the market leading select service hotel following the relaunch of the former City Lodge into a Holiday Inn brand
  • Delivering the annual budget through agreed commercial strategies and procedures
  • Hands on operator with strong Sales & Marketing skills and know how
  • Able to optimise revenue and profit opportunities

Key skills and qualifications

  • General Manager, with a track record of success
  • Success operating in an established international hotel company/brand
  • Strong Rooms Division experience
  • Capable of leading a team whilst relaunching and repositioning a hotel in a capital city
  • Solid financial acumen
  • Sales driven, able to commercially drive success
  • Similar experience gained in a select service hotel
  • International experience in a major city
  • Knowledge of the local market
